The Holland Tulip Time Festival is a magical celebration of spring blooms and Dutch heritage, right here in the Great Lakes region. While this annual festival offers plenty of premium offerings for those interested, the full beauty of the tulips can be viewed through numerous free attractions. Continue reading for our list of seven FREE ways to enjoy Holland’s Tulip Time!

1. Drive the Tulip Lanes: The Tulip Lanes are specific streets throughout Holland lined with beautiful tulips of every color. The lanes feature more than 250,000 bulbs planted along six miles of Holland’s most picturesque neighborhoods, including the historic district. The segment along Washington Ave. and the 12th Street boulevard is particularly picturesque, featuring flowering Kwanzan cherry, crab, and plum trees.

2. Enjoy the Public Parks: Tulips are bursting out of every public park in Holland this time of year, but you especially do not want to miss Window on the Waterfront Park and Centennial Park. Window on the Waterfront offers a spectacular expanse of tulips, and the sheer volume of blooms all in one place make it feel like the very center of the Tulip Time festivities. You will find various stands in the park for ordering tulip bulbs and purchasing souvenirs. While there, you will want to stroll over to the boardwalk area overlooking Lake Macatawa for a lovely view.

3. Peruse the Artisan Market: The Artisan Market has been held for more than 20 years and features the work of more than 200 juried artisans. Enjoy perusing the handmade and original works at Beechwood Church. in addition, visitors can enjoy pop-up Dutch Dance performances throughout the market event.

4. Take a Stroll Downtown: Downtown Holland is beautifully festive before, during, and after Tulip Time, boasting more than 38,000 tulip bulbs in the shopping district. Enjoy numerous tulip gardens planted along the main streets as you window shop the Dutch-themed souvenirs at the local boutiques.

5. Attend the Public Parades: Tulip Time offers multiple public parades, such as the Volksparade and the Kinderparade. Arrive early at the parade route to get a great seat near the street.

6. Gather for the Dutch Dance: Public Dutch Dance demonstrations take place at various times throughout Tulip Time, located at Centennial Park and Beechwood Church. 7. Feast Your Eyes on the Fireworks Show: The Grand Finale fireworks show takes place the second Saturday of the festival. Fireworks can be seen at Kollen Park.
